Dashboard Confessional & BOYS LIKE GIRLS Get Closer With New Music Video For “Watch The Fire”

Dashboard Confessional & BOYS LIKE GIRLS have released the Brian Doherty directed music video for their collab single "Watch The Fire."

With their joint tour now in the rearview, Dashboard Confessional and BOYS LIKE GIRLS are keeping the love going with the release of their new music video for their collab single, “Watch The Fire,” which both vocalists Chris Carrabba and Martin Johnson performed throughout this previous tour.

The Brian Doherty-directed music video is shot beautifully and mixes live footage from the band’s tour, including New York City and Anaheim, with great visuals of Chris Carrabba and Martin Johnson playing in front of a live campfire surrounded by love. It’s a wonderful look at the warm feeling “Watch The Fire” provides with each listen.

On the influence Dashboard Confessional has had on himself, BOYS LIKE GIRLS frontman Martin Johnson shares, “The year is 2002. I’m a sophomore in high school destroying the family PC to illegally download the early Dashboard Confessional EPs off Limewire. I eventually coughed up enough cash to cop the MTV unplugged CD and DVD at Newbury Comics in Boston and spun it into submission. I heard something interesting on those recordings that I had no idea would alter the rest of my career as a songwriter and guitar player – a certain tuning where all the strings were played open and strummed top to bottom. I studied the way Chris played and the interesting voicings I had never heard before and applied them to my playing.”

BOYS LIKE GIRLS are already setting themselves up for a fun 2025 with appearances at both EMO’s Not Dead Cruise on February 4 and When We Were Young on October 18.
