Exclusive: Jake SantaLucia Returns With Powerful Ballad “The Deep,” Announces New Album

Jake SantaLucia is taking listeners on a journey with his new single, "The Deep."

New York’s favorite sad guy, Jake SantaLucia is back with his brand of acoustic pop in the form of, “The Deep.” A powerful, self-reflective ballad that tells the all too real personal struggles that Jake has battled within himself the last few years.

While talking about his new single, Jake SantaLucia shared, “‘The Deep” is kind of one of those songs that was never intended on being anything more than an idea. It’s a story about heartbreak told by both sides that I wasn’t sure I was personally ready to speak about. It’s a song about all the fears that come with speaking one’s mind and opening oneself up and taking a look deep inside.”

“The Deep” is filled with an abundance of callbacks to Jake SantaLucia’s life, with my favorite being weaved with the lyrical string, “I quit rolling the dice and collecting DVDs/I hung up my gloves, a sight I never thought I’d see/I quit my day ones along with all my fake guns/Felt like I lost every single part of me.” It’s the heartbreaking realism that those close to SantaLucia will understand as he fights for his way back to finding himself.

Alongside the release of “The Deep,” Jake SantaLucia is also planning to release a new EP titled Run Wild within the summer featuring a selection of songs taken from his upcoming studio album that’s scheduled for release this fall.

On the release of his upcoming EP and album, SantaLucia shares, “The concept for the EP and album is quite similar to “The Deep.” It was never meant to be anything more than an idea. But, the stars aligned perfectly after I wrote a new song that branched out into the overall theme. The idea of the album is to take listeners on a journey of self-evaluation and evolution into becoming proud of who they are.

I am beyond excited for everyone to give the EP and album a listen and go through the journey I’ve been creating these past few months. I hope those who do listen can find a little piece of themselves within the noise and connect with it as much as I do. At the end of the day, the album is about hope, potential, and finding freedom within your life.”

“The Deep” will officially release on streaming platforms on Tuesday, May 14. Ahead of its official release, I’ll be jumping into the new single for an in-depth review coming May 13.
