Neck Deep – “Take Me With You” Review: Finding The Fun In Probing

Neck Deep is tackling UFOs with their latest, probe-approved single, "Take Me With You."

UK pop-punkers Neck Deep opened up the X-files earlier this week with the release of their latest single, “Take Me With You,” a fun nod to the revelation that we’re not alone.

Following in the footsteps of their previous single, “Heartbreak Of The Century,” “Take Me With You,” will keep the band’s dedicated fan base excited for more new music as 2023 progresses. But is the new single just following a lousy map to Uranus? Or, is frontman Ben Barlow and company ready to head towards the mothership? Let’s find out.

The boys waste zero time getting stuck in my head, as during the writing of this review, I constantly found myself humming along to the single’s overly catchy chorus, “Take me with you ’cause I’m so done with this planet,” and that’s not counting the blaring guitars that I air guitared to.

“Take Me With You” brings on the fun side of Neck Deep that many have fallen in love with over the years, constantly proving their hook masters as they effortlessly navigate through the always-changing pop-punk genre, injecting a bit of personality along the way for a genre that tends to get stale over time.

Creating a UFO anthem for a whole new audience, “Take Me With You” has all the makings to be a more aggressive spiritual successor to the blink-182 fan favorite, “Aliens Exist.” If you ask me, one can never have enough pop-punk songs about the existence of aliens and how trash certain human beings can be.

Instrumentally, Neck Deep keeps the energy topped off, making for a fun-filled sidekick to your pre-workout before hitting the treadmill wearing your short shorts, Naruto running.

All jokes aside, “Take Me With You” is Neck Deep at their best; fast-paced, full of life, and writing songs that get the blood pumping. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one in a top slot on my Spotify Unwrapped later this year.

Neck Deep always has a way of keeping interest, and their latest single continues that conversation. From instant classics like “STFU” to first-time introductions with “In Bloom.” Heck, even the addiction fuel of “December.” “Take Me With You” joins a long list of amazing songs created by these longtime genre fans, and it’s songs like this that showcase the band’s love for the pop-punk scene.

Alongside the release of “Take Me With You,” Neck Deep also announced a headlining show at the iconic Alexandra Palace in London for March 28, 2024, with tickets going onsale Friday, August 11, at 10 AM BST.
