carolesdaughter is bringing the dark world of alt-pop to the masses with her latest release, “Please Put Me In A Medically Induced Coma.” Being hailed as a brand new alternative anthem. I mentioned that I couldn’t wait to give this one a closer look when we first wrote about its release a few weeks ago, and that time is now.
A dark, moody, and just a straight-up down and dirty tell-all, Thea Taylor (aka carolesdaughter) brings the flame closer to the mental health polaroid just waiting to ignite. Personally describing her latest single as capturing the “feeling of needing an escape.”
But, is “Please Put Me In A Medically Induced Coma” deserving of the spotlight that comes with carolesdaughter quickly coming into her own within the alternative music scene? Or, is Thea Taylor and her newest tune just a light in the dark waiting to be put out? Let’s find out.
The Review
“I can’t give up the drugs/So I give up on life.” These lyrics are an eye-opening gut punch that I felt all too well growing up.
Instantly, “Please Put Me In A Medically Induced Coma” has relatable tendencies. All while being wrapped inside of a catchy alt-pop present waiting to be unleashed to the world. When we first wrote about this track a few weeks ago, it was instantly stuck in my head for the better part of a week, and just putting together this review will have me annoying my wife while I ironically, joyfully sing back; “I had potential/But of course/I blew it.”
Thea Taylor certainly wasn’t joking about this track, easily describing an escape route from one’s own mental prison. Instrumentally, the track is fast-paced and filled with high energy, making yesteryear’s emo hits cry out in joy. It also helps that I can’t seem to get enough of Thea Taylor’s infectious vocal arrangements and performance. I can’t wait to hear this one live.
Wrapping Up
“Please Put Me In A Medically Induced Coma” is clearly on my radar for Blast out your Stereo’s Songs of the Year playlist that will be released later this year. A fantastic hit piece musically on the inner workings of Thea Taylor’s mind. I can’t get enough of this song and am thankful to know of its existence. I certainly can’t wait to see and hear what Thea has in store for future carolesdaughter releases.
If you’d like to catch carolesdaughter in a live setting where you could hear Thea Taylor perform “Please Put Me In A Medically Induced Coma,” you can catch her on tour with Coheed and Cambria + The Used, as well as Machine Gun Kelly later this year.
