Coldplay took over Saturday Night Live alongside host Pedro Pascal and the variety show’s onslaught of talent in which the iconic pop-rock group performed the band’s 2022 collaborative effort with BTS member Jin titled “The Astronaut,” providing a new perspective to the dreamy pop tune as vocalist Chris Martin took over complete vocal duties.
In late 2022, Coldplay would bring Jin onstage to perform the collaboration live before beginning his mandatory military service in stunning fashion. It’s great to see the band continue to showcase the track even with the BTS member absent.
“The Astronaut” wouldn’t be the only track Coldplay would bring to the SNL stage as the group would also perform “Human Heart,” taken from their latest release, Music Of The Spheres, and mega-hit “Fix You.”
It will be exciting to see if this version of “The Astronaut” makes its way onto the band’s setlist for the 2023 leg of their upcoming Music Of The Spheres Tour and if any other new tracks or fan favorites will find their way onto Coldplay’s massive touring effort.
